Communication Training Design

THE PROJECT

This project addresses the critical gap in communication and follow-through among administrators at Principle Academy Charter (PAC), a K-6 public charter school in New Jersey. Observing issues like delayed communication, inadequate introductions of new staff, and unmet incentives, the training aims to enhance administrators’ communication strategies and foster a more connected, responsive school environment. By leveraging tools in the Google Workspace suite, particularly Google Chat, the program aspires to build a culture of clarity, accountability, and timely follow-through, which are vital for improving staff satisfaction and operational efficiency.

SPECIFICATIONS

For this project, I designed an asynchronous e-learning program to be delivered via Google Workspace over the summer, ensuring administrators complete the training before the academic year. This program includes interactive modules, quizzes, and a final assessment to evaluate skill acquisition. Key areas of focus are strategic communication, task prioritization, and proficiency in Google Chat functionalities. The Kirkpatrick 4-Level Evaluation Model will measure the program’s effectiveness, assessing reactions, learning, behavior change, and results, ensuring the training impacts both individual performance and organizational outcomes.

MY APPROACH

I conducted a comprehensive needs analysis to understand specific communication challenges at PAC, gathering survey data and insights from administrators. By prioritizing a structured, step-by-step learning approach, I aligned training activities with the administrators’ existing technological comfort, focusing on practical applications. Activities were designed to be directly relevant to daily responsibilities, reinforcing new skills in realistic scenarios. Using Kirkpatrick’s model, I plan to continuously monitor engagement and skill transfer, facilitating improvements to maintain a supportive and collaborative environment at PAC.
